Disaster Relief & Emergency Payments
Safely Distribute, Manage, and Track Payments for Those in Need
When disaster strikes, those affected often have little time to collect loved ones and belongings, and many are left with little or no access to basic financial needs.
Field-issued prepaid cards have proven to help relief organizations disburse funds rapidly to those in need, and provide full transparency and accountability to administrators, regulatory bodies, and donors.

Empower Victims with Choice and Flexibility
Field-issued prepaid cards directly benefit aid recipients in need of fast relief. As a supplement to goods and services like food, shelter, registrations, and family reunification, they fill a major requirement for urgent basic financial needs

For Those Whose Lives are Uprooted by Natural Disasters
The initial evacuation is just the beginning of what can turn into a drawn-out ordeal.
Jobs must be put on hold, cars need to be gassed up, hotels need to be found and booked, food needs to be purchased – all of which can take a financial toll on individuals and families. With field issued payment cards, these basic financial needs can be met, even if victims have lost their personal belongings.
Plus, disaster relief payments directly support local economies with victims choosing for themselves where and when to use their funds in a way that best suits their particular needs.
Get Full Visibility and Control Over Your Payments and Reporting
Payment programs are valued by aid agencies because they can be configured to suit specific reporting and compliance needs of the organization, and customized to address different types of disaster scenarios.
Berkeley’s inventory manager provides multiple levels of payment control for aid organizations, allowing administrators to directly manage payment card inventories and funding levels, track allocations and activations, and tailor program parameters to meet the specific needs of aid recipients in real-time and in the field. For example, Visa or Mastercard prepaid cards can be restricted for use, meaning transactions only work at certain pre-approved geographic locations, pre-approved merchant locations, or even specific POS terminals.
To further meet security and privacy requirements, prepaid cards can be configured with multiple activation methods, meaning they can only be activated and used if certain conditions have been met.
For example, card activation can be done in-field by an agent who then hands the ready-to-use card to the recipient, or cards can be handed over in a disabled state, requiring the recipient to activate it themselves. Further limits can be placed on a wide variety of card functionality, from maximum funding loads, to total transaction amounts, to ATM or online accessibility.
